The Department of Commerce is functioning since the establishment of the college i.e. 1982. A Pioneering department in the field of Post Graduate course in the Chandigarh (UT). It is the only Govt. College in the Chandigarh offering Master of Commerce since 2000.The major focus area of department of commerce is the development of entrepreneurial, managerial, communication, finance and accounts skills of the students to prepare them as per industry requirements. The Department is also motivating the students to join professional courses and many students have already completed professional courses like CA/ICWAI/CS and are well placed in the market. Many PG students of the Department have cleared the UGC and a good number have been placed in colleges and universities.

The teaching, learning and evaluation methodologies have been completely altered in this pandemic. To help transition from classroom to web the department offers various resources to facilitate online learning like smart classrooms, Projectors, Internet, Webcam, Virtual Classrooms etc. As technology in education sector continue to evolve, workstations are also installed in the department to help students with their projects and assignments. Department offers various tools to provide seamless support services like Tele conferences, virtual meetings, webinars and e conferencing to its students during COVID 19 pandemic.
